When I saw the clip, read your comment, and then this article, I saw and heard myself. I’ve been seeing the same pattern in the field I’m pivoting to and almost wrote about the exact principle Patton Oswalt was circling.

Then I got to the frame-by-frame footnote and my whole person jumped out: gah, that’s me! Dig and focus until it’s done, because it matters.

Thank you for sharing this. It means the world

Are you kidding? You had me at “human centered AI” and “AI content strategy and investigative case-study writing.” Tell me you’re a nerd without telling me you’re a nerd. 🤣

Ha, if you met me you’d peg me for the artist and miss the nerd completely. It’s my secret superpower. 🤘😁

😄 Which part got you, the AI/case-study stuff or the secret-nerd reveal?

Ha! Thanks. That’s a fascinating AI comparison I’ve never considered before.

It makes sense. This vision is broad and the successful execution is granular. Like picking a needle in a haystack.

Broad vision, granular execution (delicious composition!). That’s a better way of saying it than I managed. Thank you for engaging with this, it made my week.

Hi Mika. Thanks for sharing your experience, and I'm so glad you feel seen! "Because it matters." ❤️

What field are you pivoting to?

AI, specifically the human side of it. AI content strategy and investigative case-study writing.

The thing that hit me in the comedy bit and your piece: I’d been reading the labor and capital breakdown of how AI got built, and the pattern is that the industry scaled first and only afterward discovered it needed people who speak Human. The “Director” got the credit, and the clean-up crew got the work of going through scenes frame by frame, at 24 frames per second. (You are HERCULES!)

Sixteen years in consultative sales and a long self-directed obsession with applied behavioral psychology landed me here. I woke up one day wanting the quiet work: investigate, interview, write.
